Just as we are rounding the halfway point of the year we also have the spring art show right around the corner. I will be selecting artwork from multiple students to be hung in art show. I select the pieces for a variety of reasons; whether it shows a strong artistic message, was very well made, or there was a lot of effort put into the piece of work.
The art show will be at the Q Gallery April 11th 3:30-6:00 on the 2nd floor of the Franklin Art Center 1001 Kingwood Street Brainerd, MN 56401
***Remember there will 10 pieces selected to be framed and hung at the YMCA for the next year. The Lion Zentangle in the earlier post was chosen last year.***
I will post closer to the date as well, and even if your child's art is not selected there is art from students throughout the area and of all age groups. If you
have questions call, email or comment.

Halfway Through 7th Grade
This is just a friendly reminder that we are at the halfway through the 7th grade year. Art is an elective course so if you selected this course you will have it for the remainder of the year. That being said trimester 3 is when we will complete the books, work on perspective, and the BIGGIE.....CLAY!!!!!!!! Clay is such an fun and exciting lesson during the year, you get to keep this cup that you create and actually use it! That being said clay is an earned project and missing assignments are no acceptable. As this part of the year gets lengthy do no give up we have a lot to look forward to in trimester 3!
Book Pages
These are some of the projects that we have been working on in out books, the pop ups are always a hit and it is fun to see how create the kids can be with these. We will be moving onto the color wheel soon and students will be creating their own color wheel as well as learn about color mixing. That will bring us to our POP ART lesson.
REMEMBER : If you have still not completed the collage book covers that we worked on before winter break we will be adding those to our book within the next 2 weeks. If you need magazines see me ASAP.
ZENTANGLE ANIMALS
Since the Op art Movement Lesson we have been working a lot with our accordion books and also started our Zentangle animal lessons. Remember that the books are on on going project through the whole year and if you are missing an assignment now it will need to be completed before the final grading this spring.
These are some exemplars from last years Zentangle lessons. The Students focus was on a complete composition so including background, middle ground, and foreground. The Zentanges add great texture and fun design elements to the simpler animals drawings the students did.
